DescriptionWhen you want to build a true stereo sound system, using two individual amplifier chips can lead to messy wiring and grounding issues. The TDA2009 Audio Amplifier IC elegantly solves this by packing two completely independent, high-fidelity amplifier circuits into a single silicon die.Whether you are designing a custom wooden enclosure for a homemade Bluetooth stereo, or bringing a set of vintage bookshelf speakers back to life, this chip provides rich, room-filling sound with minimal external components. The Multiwatt-11 Package & HeatsinkingThe TDA2009 is housed in a distinctive 11-pin “Multiwatt” package. The pins are staggered in two rows to make routing traces on a custom printed circuit board (PCB) much easier. Crucial Design Note: Delivering 20 Watts of total audio power generates a significant amount of heat. The large metal tab featuring the mounting hole at the top of the IC is designed to be bolted securely to an aluminum heatsink. You must use thermal paste and a heatsink when operating this chip at high volumes, or it will rapidly reach its thermal limit and trigger its internal shutdown mechanism.Single Power Supply SimplicityUnlike audiophile chips that require complex dual-rail (positive, ground, and negative) power supplies, the TDA2009 operates on a standard single-rail DC supply. It runs comfortably anywhere from 8V up to 28V DC, making it incredibly easy to power using a standard 12V lead-acid battery, an 18V laptop charger, or a custom 24V switching power supply.Built-In Fault ProtectionThe TDA2009 is heavily protected against common DIY mistakes. It features AC short-circuit protection to prevent the chip from exploding if your speaker wires accidentally cross while music is playing. It also incorporates a thermal overload circuit that automatically cuts the audio output if the internal silicon temperature climbs too high, keeping your investment safe.Key Features:True Stereo Output: Two independent channels in one package (10W 10W).High Output Current: Capable of delivering up to 3.5 Amps of peak current per channel to drive heavy speaker cones.Low Distortion: Delivers high-fidelity audio with very low harmonic and crossover distortion.Space Saving: Reduces the required footprint on your PCB compared to using two separate monolithic amplifiers.Technical Specifications:Output Power: 10W per channel (at 24V supply, 4Ω load, 10% THD)Maximum Supply Voltage: 28V DCPeak Output Current: 3.5A (Per Channel)Frequency Response: ~20Hz to 20kHzThermal Shutdown Temperature: 150°CPackage Form: 11-Pin MultiwattIdeal Applications:fDIY Bluetooth boomboxes and portable stereosActive desktop PC speakers (2.0 configurations)Repairing CRT television audio stages and classic radiosSimple audio-visual learning projects in hardware bootcamps
